Biography

New Orleans musician Jak Locke has become known for his intelligent lyrics, explosive stage presence and an unapologetically original rock style that eludes easy classification. Locke's soulful croons and rabid screams punctuate music that ranges its genre influence from reggae to metal, with very few styles unincorporated into the unique blend that defines his sound.

Locke's four self-released albums are a mere highlight of his full body of work which surpasses five hundred original songs. He is currently performing fairly regularly with his backing band at respected venues, nightclubs and festivals throughout the Gulf coast region with a growing audience from Lafayette to Pascagoula.

The DIY ethic encompasses Locke's career as he books his own shows, codes his own websites and records all of his releases, an ethic that has drawn him to other ventures in the music business. Other south Louisiana acts have employed Locke to record, mix and produce their own demos and albums. In 2005, Jak worked the other side of the local live scene by conceptualizing, organizing and handling every responsibility of running an acoustic venue hosted in Metairie, LA for six months, responsibilities that ranged from booking the acts and promoting them to working the PA mixer at the shows.

With a live show full of sonic curveballs, four albums of creative intricacy and a consummate experience of the music scene, you can forget everything you've grown to expect from a solo act or a rock band for that matter; Jak Locke is completely different.
